Benefits of Rotary

Rotary membership provides the opportunity to:

  • Become connected to your community.

  • Work with others in addressing community needs.

  • Interact with other professionals in your community.

  • Assist with Rotary International's humanitarian service efforts.

  • Establish contacts with an international network of professionals.

  • Develop leadership skills.

  • Involve family in promoting service efforts.

Membership

New Rotary members are proposed by existing club members. Proposals are reviewed by the Membership Committee, Classification Committee before being sent to the Board of Directors. To be eligible for membership, a proposed new member must be a business owner, executive, manager or other senior-level professional.

Classification and Membership Types

The goal of Rotary is to have members who represent a broad cross-section of the businesses and professions in the community. Therefore, members are classified by their business or profession. There are two membership types:

  • Active: Up to 10% of club members may have the same business / professional classification (retired members do not count against the 10% limit).

  • Honorary: Honorary members are selected by the Club's Board of Directors and are reviewed annually.

Attendance Rules

To remain eligible for membership, unless excused, members must attend or make up 60% of club meetings during each six months of a Rotary year. Members must attend 60% of the meeting to receive credit for the meeting. Thirty percent of the meetings attended must be at the home club during each six months. Makeups may be credited against an absence within two weeks before and after a missed meeting.
